Dr. Eleanor Barone

While any qualified plastic surgeon can hope to bring education and years of clinical and surgical experience to a private practice, Dr. Eleanor Barone brings far more to the table, thanks to her unique life experiences. Prior to enrolling in medical school, Dr. Barone earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics from Columbia University and worked as a systems analyst within the defense industry. Some of the projects that she worked on include the Trident II navigational sonar system and the electronic warfare suite of the F/A-18 for the Navy. This unique technical background has served Dr. Barone surprisingly well in the operating room as it allows her to closely analyze results and deduce the risk of complications with each procedure.

Dr. Barone's plastic surgery practice began in 2001 after she completed her training at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, NY and her general surgical training in Richmond, VA at the MCV Hospitals program. Her surgical training included two years of research at the Wound Healing Laboratories of the Medical College of Virginia. This has given Dr. Barone

valuable insight into various aspects of wound healing, including fetal "scarless" wound healing. She has written, and co-written, several papers on the subject of wound healing and has been a presenter at various national and international conferences. Dr. Barone is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Since Dr. Barone opened Avanti Aesthetic Surgery, she has used her training and expertise to find the most up-to-date and advanced surgical methods available. She is also dedicated to the total well-being of all of her patients in the Tampa Bay area, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Bradenton and Sarasota. She evaluates each patient’s health background to ensure the best possible outcomes with the lowest risk of complications.
